Alt-Na-Craig, situated in Greenock, is a purpose-built care home dedicated to supporting residents in pursuing their passions every single day. Our team takes pride in offering a diverse range of activities tailored for each individual to fill their days within a grouped setting. Whether it’s having a pamper in our fully equipped hair salon, some peace in our library & quiet areas, enjoying the outdoors in our landscaped gardens, or partaking in our full activities programme – there’s something for everyone.

We recognise the individuality of our residents and celebrate their key interests and hobbies, encouraging them to continue doing them every day. Whether they are more creative and enjoy doing arts and crafts or want to immerse themselves in a book, everybody can rest assured that they will be supported in everything they do at Alt-Na-Craig.

Comfortable En-Suite Bedrooms

Each of our beautiful rooms has been designed to offer our residents a home-from-home feeling within a comfortable, high-quality environment. We can cater for up to 53 residents, with options for couples, friends or relatives to share a room. Whilst offering a range of modern furnishings, our comfortable en-suite bedrooms also capture the essence of history and the wonderful things our care home has been over the years.

Each bedroom is equipped with everything our residents could need, including a wetroom, profiling beds, a temperature-controlled heating system and a nurse calling system. We also encourage our residents to customise their bedrooms, truly making it a place they can call home.

High-Quality Dining

At Alt-Na-Craig House we have a dedicated team of on-site chefs who prepare fresh, nutritious, healthy food on a daily basis. We use the finest quality local ingredients and design our menus to ensure a variety of dishes are on offer each day, so there’s something to suit every taste. A favourite dish our residents love here at Alt-Na-Craig is the Fresh Fish, supplied by a local fishmonger. We regularly take on board any requests that our residents have and alter our menu so everybody can continue to eat their favourite culinary dishes.

Some of our other facilities including our landscaped gardens are available to our residents during the summer months to enjoy some al fresco dining. Alternatively, they can choose to sit in our private dining room on special occasions or in their room if they would prefer some privacy.

Arts & Crafts

We encourage all of our residents to express themselves in all ways possible, so we offer regular arts and crafts sessions for them to enjoy alongside their companions. When they have the opportunity to show off their creative side, it not only enhances their mental well-being and provides them with a new sense of confidence, but it also increases their cognitive functions.

Each session is assigned a specific theme, so residents will never get bored. It also gives them an opportunity to make something physical for their room, a loved one or one of our regular events.

Full Activities Programme

At Alt-Na-Craig, we believe our residents should live life to the fullest, so we have a full activity programme that includes entertainment, day trips, hobbies and more. We have an in-house team of activities coordinators who consistently communicate with our residents to find out how they want to spend their days, and then create a dynamic plan full of stimulating activities. Some examples of our residents’ favourite activities include social outings, board games or light exercise sessions.

Everybody is encouraged to carry on with their interests and hobbies at their own pace at Alt-Na-Craig, and we always hold inclusive activities that each resident can participate in, no matter their care needs.

Landscaped Gardens

In our superior care home, we offer a landscaped garden where raised planters and an abundance of space that creates an idyllic retreat for residents and their loved ones. Our garden offers a sense of tranquillity and is available for al-fresco dining when summer comes around.

Residents with a passion for gardening are invited to contribute to their garden, whether this includes tending to our flower beds and vegetable patches or ensuring the upkeep of bird tables throughout the seasons. Everyone can fully enjoy the benefits of the landscaped garden here at Alt-Na-Craig.

Fully Equipped Hair Salon

Our fully-equipped hair salon offers everything our residents can need for a pamper and confidence boost, whether it is a head massage or a wash and fresh cut. Our hairdresser creates strong relationships with our residents and offers them a space where they can just kick back and relax for a while.

All of the hair services are included in the overall weekly costs, so residents can enjoy peace of mind that they won’t incur any extra costs. Residents can schedule appointments with our hairdresser on a regular basis or book in for a treat prior to a special event.

Library & Quiet Areas

Our aim at Alt-Na-Craig is to create a homely atmosphere where family and friends are always welcome to visit. A place where residents may remain independent but safe in the knowledge that care is always at hand. This is why we offer a library and quiet areas for those who are looking to get away from the regular hustle and bustle.

Our library is equipped with a range of books to suit everybody’s needs. Whether you prefer to read comedies, romances or thrillers, we will have something for you to lose yourself in at our care home in Greenock.

Lounge Bar

Our lounge bar is an area where residents can indulge in their favourite refreshments with like-minded individuals or loved ones. Having a lounge bar on site means that our residents always have access and service at their fingertips. For those visiting during the day, the lounge bar is the perfect location to take a break and relax while enjoying their favourite coffee and a selection of cakes.
